Royal Olympic Cruises Names Cy Hopkins Vice President, North America
Royal Olympic Cruises (Nasdaq: ROCLF) has appointed Cy Hopkins to the position of Vice President, North America, effective immediately. Based at the company's office in New York, Mr. Hopkins will be responsible for the strategic management of the line's operations in the United States and Canada; his chief responsibility will initially be to expand sales in North America.
With over 25 years experience in the cruise industry, Mr. Hopkins was most recently Vice President of Business Development and Operations for First European Cruises. Prior to that, he had been Vice President of Pricing and Business Planning for Celebrity Cruises. His extensive background includes sales, reservations, pricing, inventory control and revenue management.
"We are very pleased Mr. Hopkins is joining the Royal Olympic family. With his specialized knowledge of the cruise industry, he will be a true asset in strengthening our current operations and implementing our plans for the future in the key North American market," said Vasilios Kapetanakos, President and Chief Executive Officer, at the company's corporate headquarters in Piraeus, Greece.
Mr. Hopkins' appointment follows the departure of Al Wallack, formerly the President of Royal Olympic Cruises USA, who was closely involved with the company's development from a privately-held entity into a NASDAQ-quoted, international publicly traded cruise line. "We are very grateful for the contributions Al Wallack made during his time with the company," Mr. Kapetanakos continued.
